On Saturday, 13th<\/sup> September 2025, in the garden of “Vuk Karad\u017ei\u0107” Library, the first Parent and Child Festival was held within ZelenGrad programme \u2013 a collaborative project between “Vuk Karad\u017ei\u0107” Library and “Contra Margum” Citizen Association from Kovin. The project is part of “The Europe Challenge”, selected among 338 applications from all over Europe. Out of 60 selected projects, Kovin is the only town from Serbia that participates.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0From 11 am to 2 pm, in the library garden with festive decorations, in a sunny day and special atmosphere, parents and children, neighbours, members of \u00a0“Contra Margum” Citizen Association and library staff\u00a0 joined together in the activities. During the opening, project coordinators Vesna Dragojevi\u0107 and Jovana Vujovi\u0107 Krivo\u0161i\u0107, as well as the Library Director Ivana Jovanov addressed the participants. They presented the aims of ZelenGrad: thinking together and building a future in which biodiversity, protecting the greenery, as well as strengthening the community are the focal points. Vladimir Krivo\u0161i\u0107, the Chairman of the Board of “Contra Margum” Citizens\u2019 Association addressed the attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n

Visitors could participate in various workshops:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Celtic tree “horoscope” and textile art \u2013 Children were drawing illustrations of ZelenGrad while adults could discover “their tree” in celtic horoscope and paint on a T-shirt;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Tailor\u2019s corner \u2013 Families learnt how to sew back a button and the basic clothes repairing skills and were encouraged to make their own recycled toys with their parents;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Planting spices \u2013 Children were decorating glasses, planting seeds and talking to their parents about using these plants in everyday life;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • \u201cGreen-ologist\/ Zelenolog\u201d \u2013 Guided conversation with the participants \u201cthrough green-coloured glasses\u201d where they shared their vision of the future of the town and provided suggestions for a more sustainable Kovin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n

    Workshops guided by: Vesna\u00a0Dragojevi\u0107, Ma\u0161a Vuleti\u0107, Jovana Vujovi\u0107 Krivo\u0161i\u0107, Bratislav Dragojevi\u0107 and Boban Dini\u0107. The event was well attended and it brought valuable ideas that will find their purpose in developing minor green projects. The festival showed that art, learning and common activities can be a strong foundation for developing awareness of sustainability and empowering community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
