Association of Citizens “Contra Margum” – Kovin succesfully organised My Tree – 002 project on 22nd and 29th March 2025. This time, our members and supporters decided to enrich the playground by the “PIK playground”, and well as “Đura Jakšić” and “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Primary Schools by planting perennial trees and roses.

At the playground, 10 trees have been planted:

  1. A sugar maple tree, donated by Savka Tejić;
  2. A sugar maple tree, donated by Ivanka Dimitrijević – Barstra;
  3. A sugar maple tree, donated by Lav Krivošić;
  4. Koelreuteria, donated by Kosta Stefanov;
  5. A linden tree, donated by Ilija Golubović;
  6. A Japanese cherry tree, donated by Anđa Radović and Slobodanka Dobrić;
  7. A Japanese cherry tree, donated anonymously;
  8. A Japanese cherry tree, donated by Mila Božinovski;
  9. A Japanese cherry tree, donated by Vuk Žegarac;
  10. A Japanese cherry tree, donated by Vuk Žegarac.

A former student of “Đura Jakšić” Primary School donated funds for planting 50 roses in two circular field in front of the very building.

In the schoolyard of “Đura Jakšić” Primary School a koelreuteria tree was planted, which is a donation by the members of  the Association of Citizens “Contra Margum” Kovin.

In the schoolyard of “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Primary School, an aronia berry tree has been planted which was donated by our young neighbour Jakša Ćosić, whose great-great grandfather Stevan Ćosić was a janitor from 1953 to 1970 in this school and lived with his family in the ancillary building by which this tree was planted.

During the “My Tree – 002” action funds were raised for planting 50 roses and a total of 12 roses, which is an increase by 100% in comparison with the number of trees planted in the action “My Tree – 001” in November 2024. During this action, the number of members of the Association “Contra Margum” has increased by as much as 20% which means that an increasing number of citizens recognises our activism as socially beneficial and desire to support and join us, for which we are most grateful. Our special thanks go to the Kovin Town Hall, “Kovinski komunalac” (Public Utility Company); “Đura Jakšić” and “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Primary Schools staff, “Braća Mrzić” warehouse, “Tilija” plant nursery, as well as all the donors, supporters and members of the “Contra Margum” Association of Citizens.

We hope that many citizens will enjoy the shade of the trees and the smell of the roses in the future and they will wish to join us In order to make our Kovin an even more attractive town.
